Here's 2020 in a nutshell…

Home conference. This is one of my new prints! Link to buy from my shop is in my bio. This was in the guardian last week, maybe last month, who knows what time is anymore. #lockdown #homeschool #coronavirus #comedy #covid_19 #satire #cartoons #comics #parenting #stephencollins #theguardian

That's pretty much what happened with conferences in 2020, too. CF community however didn't wait too long and we adapted to the situation. Without further ado, here's the full list of the 2020 CF conferences and webinars.

What can we expect in 2021?

Adobe, Ortus Solutions, CF Camp and everyone else seem to be pretty quite for now. Maybe they're like me, hoping that things will settle down and we'll be able to travel and hang out again like we used to… (cry)

Anyhow, I am really looking forward to that time again. Until then, let's see how 2020 went.

Comprehensive list of ColdFusion Conferences 2020

“… every year, we are seeing an increase in the number of developers that are coming to the events like you would have seen and even Las Vegas event last year was bigger than the year before. And hopefully this year, the Summit East is going to be bigger than what it was last year.” – Kishore Balakrishnan

Into The Box 2020

This year brings new kind of “normal” and Into The Box conference was no different. Covid 19 world pandemic has forced us to distance ourselves from all sorts of things. Conferences were canceled and so many businesses (and lives) changed.

ITB adapted. It has shown that they can successfully do a virtual conference. On May 7. and 8. 2020. Into The Box was held in your home. Bedroom. Dorm room. Home office.

While many say that this is not something they got used to, to us, the programmers can easily say that working from home has been normal for a few years now. Yes, maybe equally cool parts such as hanging out in the venue and in the after- parties is missing out this year, still there’s plenty of awesome things to learn at the conference. And that’s what this article is about. The next one might be, on the options of how we can hang around at the virtual conference and have fun. ?

Adobe CF Summit East 2020

CF Summit East started in the second year of CF Summit in Las Vegas and it’s mainly for people who can’t travel to the West coast. The 2020 was canceled due to Covid-19 crisis. We were happy to follow Adobe ColdFusion Developer Week 2020 webinar instead.

Why is CF Summit East important to the CF Community?

    1. Learn CF new features
    2. Future roadmap of CF (through 2028)
    3. Networking with other CF developers, CF speakers and Adobe CF senior staff

CF Camp 2020

Known as the only CF conference in Europe, CF Camp has quickly become the conference. With over 200 attendees, and always interesting speakers, it is interesting and very informative for both speakers and attendees.

The latest conference was in the small town of Freising, near Munich, Germany, and this is where 2020 will be held as well. There's still no official announcement because of the Covid 19 situation, but we're hoping this won't stop Michi (Michael Hnat) and the rest of the crew.

Adobe CF Summit India 2020

We are still waiting for the official announcement, but we hear that it’s going to be very big this year. Last year's conference in India had more than 200 attendees, so we hope to see a 2-day conference, perhaps?

After the success at the CF Summit East in Washington DC, the spring conference season is over.

Into the Box 2019 was awesome!

The conference was held in just inside the Houston, TX region at The Woodlands. It went for three exciting days starting on May 1st with pre-conference workshops and culminating on May 3rd with Closing remarks and a raffle. It had 50% (!) more attendees than last year! Wow!

Adobe ColdFusion Specialist Certificate Program

The Adobe ColdFusion Specialist is a full-day certificate classroom program, delivered by top Adobe ColdFusion experts. You will be enrolled in the course as soon as you register and will receive course instructions and prep materials two weeks prior to the on-site program date. Once you have completed the training, you will partake in an online assessment. And only upon successful completion will you be awarded your Adobe ColdFusion Specialist certificate. At the CF Summit East 2019, we've heard much of the new and interesting stuff to come from the ColdFusion world. One of the high points for me, personally, was talking about ColdFusion Vision for the Next 10 Years, with Rakshith Naresh.

I had the pleasure of attending this conference organized by the Adobe ColdFusion team, in the first week of December.

After the CF Summit West 2019 in Las Vegas which is the biggest ColdFusion conference in the world, which was in October, this event took place in Bengaluru.

It is a confluence of everything in the realm of web applications. If you develop web applications, this is the place to be. For designers, developers, strategists and thought leaders, the ColdFusion India Summit provides the perfect forum to exchange ideas, inspiration, and experiences.

Continuous Security for Your CFML Code With Fixinator Webinar With Pete Freitag, 2019

In this webinar, Pete explained how to scan a code base, produce reports, and let Fixinator fix some of the issues it finds. Another takeaway was on how to setup Fixinator in a continuous integration workflow, so it runs every time you commit code to the repository, giving you instant, automatic, continuous feedback.

Clean up Your Legacy Code with Codechecker With George Murphy, 2019

Take a look at a free open source tool for checking your ColdFusion code for vulnerabilities. There are several rules that it can check for. Those include missing cfqueryparams and un-var scoped variables. The value of this code checker is that you can build rules for it.

So, if you find something that is not included in the tool it can be added. It can run in a browser or in the CommandBox CLI. We will take a deep dive into some legacy code to look for vulnerabilities and items that make up the best practice list. This application was developed to modernize and update about 300 legacy applications. The tool can also print all of the findings to an Excel spreadsheet with a link to the offending items.

Adobe Evangelizing for ColdFusion at Developer Week 2019

Some people say that Adobe isn't doing enough to support and promote ColdFusion. That's not true.  Adobe's own Kishore Balakrishnan and Elishia Dvorak attended the DeveloperWeek in San Francisco, California.

Adobe ColdFusion and Lucee CFML News and Updates

ColdFusion has been around for more than 25 years. It had it’s ups and downs as everything does, it seems that lately it shows the signs of vitality and longevity. The always inevitable question (mostly by the nay-sayers) “is CF dead?” is becoming obsolete. Nevertheless, we are not going to talk anymore.

In it’s third decade, ColdFusion is more alive, secure and more vibrant than ever!

Legacy code is still a big issue for most of the companies. What this means, is that so often companies don't keep their CF regularly updated, which means, less security and more spaghetti code. But, this is easily solved by keeping your CF up to date, modern and secure.

24 Years of ColdFusion Thriving

Here's an example. Websockets is becoming very popular now. ColdFusion has had it since 2011. In order for CF to be relevant for the next decade, Adobe plans to go to the cloud. Serverless is what the world is aiming now, and for CF to be a relevant player in the game, it is planning to become the most productive platform.

Cloud containerization and serverless is the goal for Adobe.

CF is working on becoming a multi-cloud platform. Which means it won't be dependant on only one cloud.

But, we’ll get there soon.

Comprehensive list of ColdFusion Conferences 2018

Each of the CF conferences had their own specific mark and they were all a big success.

Adobe ColdFusion CF Summit East 2018 was on April 25th, 2018 in Washington DC and it was free to attend.  As Adobe people told us and predicted, more than 200 people attended the conference.

Muracon 2018- some of you (CFers) didn't think it's worth it to attend this conference. This might cost you some valuable knowledge. Although organized by Mura it wasn't just about Mura CMS.

Here's the full list of slides and presentations.

Into the Box 2018 conference was a huge success. And not just for the organizers. Each year attendees can take even more knowledge, new acquaintances and positive vibes back home. Big thanks to the guys from Ortus Solutions and congrats on a job well done!

Here's the full list of slides and presentations.

CF Summit 2018 (an Amazing Time for ColdFusion) was great. The sheer number of different speakers was just amazing. Each speaker gave such wonderful insights into the world of ColdFusion and CFML operations. Whoever said ColdFusion is dead definitely needs to reconsider that statement.
