Agenda
Title:
Hidden GEMS in Adobe ColdFusion 2025
Speaker:
Charlie Arehart Independent Consultant
It's that time again: another new ColdFusion version, and another chance for Charlie Arehart to reprise his classic “hidden gems” approach to finding what's new that you might miss, like he's been doing since CF4.0.1. Some may be modest features that few would use, while others may be pretty big deals but which just don't get much press. There are always FAR more new things with each release than most people realize–usually several dozen (and CF2025 is no exception), and then more may come in updates to follow. Charlie will identify them, highlighting some, as well as discussing edition differences, pricing, migration issues, and pointing to resources for learning more.
Title:

Migrating Adobe ColdFusion Admin Settings between versions safely
Speaker:
Charlie Arehart
Description:
When moving from one Adobe ColdFusion version to another (or even just the same version from one machine to another), someone will face the need to “bring along” the CF Admin settings: datasources, scheduled tasks, mappings, and so on. How can that be done quickly and safely? (You should not just “copy over the neo xml files”, nor do you need to just “open two tabs/screens and start copy/pasting between them”.) Did you know there are a few different ways to migrate admin settings safely-one of which is new since CF2021? In this session, veteran CF troubleshooter Charlie Arehart will walk through these options, some old and some new, some built into CF and some freely available. We'll also cover briefly comparing CF Admin settings between two CF instances-again, other than just eyeballing two tabs/screens-as such a comparison can be very helpful to check things whether before or after such a migration.

As a disclaimer, all participants must bring their own laptops and ColdFusion platform. Any other prereqs will be provided onsite. Also… don’t forget your chargers. There will be ample power sources available. It would suck to miss out due to a dead battery.
The full-day program costs only $99. This not only covers the expert lessons, but food and drink for the day and registration. This is a great deal! Hurry up and reserve your spot today before slots are fully booked.
There is also an Ortus 2-day post-conference class “Zero to Hero” about ColdBox. It is $899.
ColdFusion Summit East 2018
Adobe ColdFusion CF Summit East 2018 was on April 25th, 2018 in Washington DC and it was free to attend.
As Adobe people told us and predicted, more than 200 people attended the conference.
This is the East coast counterpart of Adobe’s more bigger event, the Adobe CF Summit (West) conference, which takes place in Las Vegas each year in the Fall. CF Summit East is mainly for the people who can’t travel to LV for any number of reasons (including LV business travel restrictions, budget issues). This is their 6th year in a row to organize this conference in the East Coast. This is the last year's highlights
One of the things that are very interesting is that this is FREE. Yes, that’s correct. It is free to go to this event. It even includes breakfast and lunch. Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch?

From Government CF to all CFers
Last year event was titled the CF government summit – but in reality it was not all CF government focused. This lead to some confusion on who should be attending and this is why this year it’s does not include government in the name. All CFers (including government ones) are welcome to attend.
Why is it important?
It is important for all ColdFusion developers to go because you will learn about:
-
New features in CF
-
Direction of CF
-
Roadmap through 2025
This event is very important for the ColdFusion community, and everyone using ColdFusion. It's the largest developer event on the East Coast focusing just on ColdFusion and the place for all CF developers and users to network and to address all the problems and challenges they’re facing and have people from Adobe directly present and involved and willing to listen and develop on that basis.
Adobe is committed in its roadmap until 2025 to improve and upgrade ColdFusion. It is nice to see Adobe’s commitment towards the product marketing with the CF Summit event.
